World Junior ranking

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BWF have  implemented  the World Junior Ranking from 1st January 2011. BWF  is  pleased to move this process to the next stage with the identification of tournaments that will count for the World Junior Rankings. All Member Associations are invited to  apply for sanction  for their junior tournaments and the application must be  made through the Continental Confederation

All Member Associations have the possibility of including  their tournaments in the World Junior Ranking/ Junior Calendar  and furhter information will be notified to all MA's.

 

 Ranking

  1. World Junior Ranking – 5 or fewer World Junior Ranking tournaments in the last 52 weeks
  • If a player or pair has competed in the same event at 5 or fewer World Junior Ranking tournaments then the ranking is worked out by adding the points won at the tournaments.  Up to a maximum of 2 BWF sanctioned World Ranking tournaments shall be included in the player or pair’s World Junior Ranking.

      2. World Junior Ranking – 6 or more World Junior Ranking tournaments in the last 52 weeks

  • If a player or pair has competed in the same event at 6 or more World Junior Ranking tournaments, only the 5 highest points scored in the tournaments during the previous 52 week period count towards their World Junior ranking, of which a maximum of 2 BWF sanctioned World Ranking tournaments shall be included in the player or pair’s World Junior Ranking.

      3. Tournaments included in World Junior Rankings

  • 2 BWF sanctioned World Ranking tournaments  (refer table 6.4)
  • World Junior Championships
  • BWF sanctioned Junior tournaments
  • Individual Junior Continental Championships

  • Badminton Asia Confederation may select up to 2 tournaments to upgrade to European Junior Championships level and up to 3 tournaments to the upgraded Asian and European Tournaments level as stated in World Junior ranking table above.
  • Badminton Europe can select up to 3 tournaments to upgrade to the upgraded Asian and European International Tournaments level.

 5  Eligibility.

  • Players must be under 19 years of age to be eligible in the World Junior Ranking.
  • Players will be removed from the World Junior Ranking once they have reached 19 years of age on 1st January.
  • In doubles players will be ranked as individuals and not as pairs.
