Para-Badminton World Championships 2015


The BWF Para-Badminton World Championships is hosted every two years (on odd numbered years), with the last edition of the Championships taking place in Dortmund, Germany in 2013. The Championships determine who are the World Champions in each of the Sport Classes / Events on the programme.

The BWF Para-Badminton World Championships is an individual competition and each Member Association or organisation recognised by the BWF, is invited to enter players into the Championships.

The 2015 Para-Badminton World Championships will be held in Stoke Mandeville, England from 08 - 13 September 2015.

This is the sixth time the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships are being held in Europe. Previously, the Championships were held in the Netherlands in 1998, Germany in 2000, Spain in 2001, Wales in 2003, and Germany again in 2013.

Please note - it is recommended that you aim to arrive in Stoke Mandeville by noon on Sunday 06 September 2015 to ensure that you are free to attend all of the required registrations and meetings.




Any new players wishing to participate in the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships will need to be classified according to the BWF Para-Badminton Classification Regulations. All new players will need to submit the following medical forms and supporting information:

Submission of the forms has to be made to no later than four (4) weeks before the start of the championships.

All forms must be submittedno later than Tuesday 11 August 2015

Monday 07 September 2015 - Classification Meeting at Stoke Mandeville Stadium

Tuesday 08 September 2015 - Classification at Competition Hall Stoke Mandeville Stadium


Every team manager who has players without a valid classification or need to be re-classified must attend the Classification Meeting.

All players listed on this document (coming soon) will be required to attend classification on Tuesday 08 September 2015.

  • Friday 14 August 2015 - Practice Facilities Form submission deadline. No support/confirmation will be provided until Team entries are accepted and confirmed by the TD.

  • Friday 14 August 2015 - Transport request deadline. No support/confirmation will be provided until Team entries are accepted and confirmed by the TD.

  • Tuesday 11 August 2015 - Classification medical forms submission deadline

Anti Doping

BWF Anti-Doping Programme – Theraputic User Exemption

Below you will see information relating to the important requirement of TUE’s.

  • Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) – Must be approved 21 days before the start of the Championships.

  • Medications – please note that if your doctor determines you need to take medications which contain prohibited substances – you must get a Therapeutic Use Exemption in place 21 days before the event. See the BWF website (see link).

Players must be aware of their responsibilities towards anti-doping. Testing can take place at any international competition.
