Under the BWF Constitution the BWF Council appoints a Disciplinary Committee which has the power to sanction Members, players, coaches, competition officials or other persons for infringement of the Codes of Conduct.
The BWF Constitution has a range of sections related to disciplinary and appeals processes. See the Disciplinary Regulations - Judicial Procedures and the BWF Constitution for details on disciplinary action and the rights of players / coaches / officials.
BWF Disciplinary Committee
- Gregory Verpoorten (Chair)
- Geraldine Brown
- Ng Yoke Weng
- Wayne Somers
- Chipo Zumburani
The BWF has a pool of 15 independent arbitrators that have been approved by the AGM. Any three of these can be called upon to form an Appeals Panel. The list of arbitrators can be downloaded here.
The process of the appeals is governed by the BWF Judicial Procedures. In the case of an appeal against the decision of the Disciplinary Committee, the Appellant selects one arbitrator and the Council selects another one from the list. These two arbitrators select the third member of the Appeals Panel who will chair that particular Appeals Panel for that particular case.
